Basting point

We use the paragraph structure called S.E.E.Y to write factual paragraphs:

(S) A statement.

(E) Elaboration.

(E) Examples or further Elaboration.

(Y) Finish with ‘Your Opinion or feelings’.

We were asked to focus on using correct punctuation and Wow Words!

Here is my writing on Bastion Point which we learnt about in class.

(seey paragraph)

S: Basting Point is a place where Maori got kicked out of their land by the crown.

E: Ngati Whatua gave the crown the land in case Russians attacked.

E:The Russians didn’t attack so Ngati Whatua took the land back but crown wanted to sell the land and that’s how the protest started. It went for a long time (506 days).  The Maori got forced out by the police and some Maori got arrested for no particular reason.

Y: Again this is another example of New Zealanders being treated unfairly.

I learnt that Maori were getting kicked out of their home back in the day at Auckland. Mr Maclean’s example of what we could write was a big help to me.

What do you think I could improve on?

How to say what something is and what color it is, in Te Reo

This week we are learning how to say what is that and what color is it in Maori.

Here is a list of how to make one like me

  1. You need a partner.
  2. Then you need to write down the words.
  3. Then you get the thing you want to say.
  4. Then you go on to the camera app.
  5. And take a video with your partner.
  6. Once you’re finished you will need to send it to your partner.
  7. Once you have sent it to your partner you can both post it if you want.

What I found hard was trying to pronounce the words but I figured out how.

What I enjoyed was making the video with my partner.

Here are two videos I made with my partner. You have learnt any te reo lately?
